Case Studies - Energy Survey

Nature of Project: Carbon Trust style Site survey and development of a low energy, low carbon strategy for the hospital.

Client: NHS Trust Hospital

Teamwork's Role: Teamwork were appointed by the Carbon Trust to review all energy used at the hospital and to carry out a site survey to identify specific opportunities to save energy and to lower the carbon footprint. This has identified the need to develop a strategy working with the hospital that would deliver savings within and agreed timescale. Work on developing an implementation strategy is currently ongoing.

Form of contract: Teamwork were appointed by the Carbon Trust under our frame work agreement with them. Deliverables and time scale are defined in the appointment.

Tangible benefits: The survey report identified energy cost savings of £489K (30%) and CO2 savings of 4052 Tonnes (31%).

Non Tangible Benefits: The hospital trust also recognised the need for a staff awareness campaign if it were to meet the government reduction targets and that work must start immediately on an implementation programme.
